Let there be a science fair!

Next February, Cincinnati’s Creation Museum will hold a science fair for budding creationists. All students in grades 7-12 are encouraged to apply, provided they agree with Answers in Genesis’ Statement of Faith, which includes the following items:

2. The account of origins presented in Genesis is a simple but factual presentation of actual events and therefore provides a reliable framework for scientific research into the question of the origin and history of life, mankind, the Earth and the universe.

3. The various original life-forms (kinds), including mankind, were made by direct creative acts of God. The living descendants of any of the original kinds (apart from man) may represent more than one species today, reflecting the genetic potential within the original kind. Only limited biological changes (including mutational deterioration) have occurred naturally within each kind since Creation.

4. The great Flood of Genesis was an actual historic event, worldwide (global) in its extent and effect.

Thanks J-Walk Blog. After the jump: a sampling of other upcoming events at the Creation Museum, including a screening of a DVD about “the rampant misinformation propagated by ecological alarmists” and a lecture called, intriguingly, “God Didn’t Make Any Apemen:”

Highlights from the Creation Museum’s events calendar:

DVD Screening: Global Warming: A Scientific and Biblical Exposé of Climate Change”

What is the truth about global warming? Come see a special showing of Answers in Genesis’ new DVD “Global Warming: A Scientific and Biblical Exposé of Climate Change” at the Creation Museum. This bold new documentary is an exciting and important tool for all who face the rampant misinformation propagated by ecological alarmists. Global Warming addresses subjects that most others won’t touch, including misinformation which is contained in Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth. Lecture: God Didn’t Make Any Apemen

Come join Dr. Menton in this exciting workshop about supposed missing links! He will teach you how to recognize the hoax behind the so-called ape man remains and you will learn that God didn’t make any Apemen. Dr. Menton was associate professor of anatomy for many years at the respected Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and holds a PhD in cell biology from the Ivy League, Brown University. Audiences of all ages enjoy Dr. Menton’s well-illustrated (and often humorous) presentations. To learn more about Dr. Menton please visit: http://www.answersingenesis.org/events/bio.aspx?Speaker_ID=3

Lecture: Lucy: She’s No Lady

This workshop focuses Dr. Menton’s art for the absurd on the fiction of supposed ape ancestors and exposes the evolutionary propaganda in a side-splitting depiction. He will leave no doubt that the famous “Lucy” fossils belong to a knuckle-walking, apelike creature … who was not a lady! Menton please visit: http://www.answersingenesis.org/events/bio.aspx?Speaker_ID=3 The workshop cost is just $4 with museum admission; a discounted rate is available for Museum members.

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE

We’re falling behind our online fundraising goals and we can’t sustain coming up short on donations month after month. Perhaps you’ve heard? It is impossibly hard in the news business right now, with layoffs intensifying and fancy new startups and funding going kaput.

The crisis facing journalism and democracy isn’t going away anytime soon. And neither is Mother Jones, our readers, or our unique way of doing in-depth reporting that exists to bring about change.

Which is exactly why, despite the challenges we face, we just took a big gulp and joined forces with the Center for Investigative Reporting, a team of ace journalists who create the amazing podcast and public radio show Reveal.

If you can part with even just a few bucks, please help us pick up the pace of donations. We simply can’t afford to keep falling behind on our fundraising targets month after month.

Editor-in-Chief Clara Jeffery said it well to our team recently, and that team 100 percent includes readers like you who make it all possible: “This is a year to prove that we can pull off this merger, grow our audiences and impact, attract more funding and keep growing. More broadly, it’s a year when the very future of both journalism and democracy is on the line. We have to go for every important story, every reader/listener/viewer, and leave it all on the field. I’m very proud of all the hard work that’s gotten us to this moment, and confident that we can meet it.”

Let’s do this. If you can right now, please support Mother Jones and investigative journalism with an urgently needed donation today.
