Slow Your Roll, Bubba: Just How Stupid Does Bill Clinton Think We Are?

The Clintons have been so dogged from the moment they hit the campaign trail (his, I mean), that I’ve tried to avoid piling on. Who else needs to be on the attack against them? Besides, even an Aunt Jemima like me gets tired of making even more black people hate her. But the time has come to point out that Bubba, beloved of Negroes everywhere, is campaigning for his wife (which is fine) like a newspeak-wielding goon (which is not). The following doesn’t even make sense:

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Bill Clinton, who carried Nevada in two general elections, urged voters Tuesday to buck labor endorsements for Sen. Barack Obama and support his wife in Saturday’s hotly contested presidential caucuses as the only Democratic candidate with the experience necessary to change the country.

The former president trumpeted New York Sen. Hillary Clinton’s accomplishments while painting Obama as the “establishment” candidate who would bring only the “feeling of change.”

“One candidate says you should vote for me because I’ve not been involved at all in the struggles of the past and therefore we need to turn over a new leaf and (try) something absolutely new. And if you want the feeling of change, then that is the person you should support,” Clinton said in a 75-minute speech to about 300 people in a YMCA gymnasium.

His wife has “the experience” but Obama is “establishment” though he’s “not been involved in the struggles of the past” and provides only “the feeling of change”? Huh? WTFO?

What on earth can this possibly mean? I’ll tell you what it means; former President Bill Clinton is engaging in pavlovian, subconscious kneejerking of those whom Oxford-boy considers to be his mental inferiors (that would be you and me). He thinks we’ll believe anything if it comes from His Nibs in his chili cheese-fried southern drawl. The whole Clinton dynasty thing is starting to creep me out. And piss me off. It’s as if he’s furious that these lowly arrivistes dare to compete with her. With him.

For all his faults, I never bothered to spend much time dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s where his (and her) many failings are involved. America is such a target rich environment and hating them is just too easy and the GOP is so much worse (no one died when Clinton lied, as the saying goes). But if he keeps this up, he’s going to start pissing off the wrong folks. He might just wake us sleeping dogs.

I just hate when folks think I’m so stupid and they’re so smart. You might wanna chickety-check, homey. I’m just sayin’…

DONALD TRUMP & DEMOCRACY

Mother Jones was founded to do journalism differently. We stand for justice and democracy. We reject false equivalence. We go after stories others don’t. We’re a nonprofit newsroom, because the kind of truth-telling investigations we do doesn’t happen under corporate ownership.

And we need your support like never before, to fight back against the existential threats American democracy faces. Fundraising for nonprofit media is always a challenge, and we need all hands on deck right now. We have no cushion; we leave it all on the field.

It’s reader support that enables Mother Jones to report the facts that are too difficult, expensive, or inconvenient for other news outlets to uncover. Please help with a donation today if you can—even a few bucks will make a real difference. A monthly gift would be incredible.
