SENATOR CHUCK HAGEL, who in a Foreign Relations Committee hearing yesterday told Condoleezza Rice that the war escalation was the worst foreign-policy blunder since Vietnam.

She later suggested it may be worse than that, by intimating the desire for a wider war involving Iran and Syria.
